As we settle into the rhythm of the new year, many of us are looking for convenient yet flavorful meal options to conquer those busy weeknights. After a wonderful holiday season filled with relaxation and spontaneous cooking – a refreshing break from the camera, I must admit! – it’s time to get back into the kitchen with purpose. And what better way to kick off a new season of delicious, home-cooked meals than with a dish that promises comfort, speed, and an explosion of delightful Asian-inspired flavors?

These Asian Noodle Bowls with Pork truly hit the spot, especially on chilly evenings when you crave something warm and satisfying. The harmonious combination of sweet, savory, tangy, and a touch of spice makes them an instant family favorite. If you’ve been a fan of our widely popular Garlic Beef Noodle Bowls, then you’re in for a treat! We’ve taken that beloved concept and adapted it using tender pork, along with a slightly tweaked sauce that brings its own unique character to the dish. While a direct swap of beef for pork (or vice versa) would undoubtedly be fantastic in both recipes, this pork version offers a fantastic new dimension. Think of it as a quicker, noodle-filled cousin to classics like Mongolian Beef – incredibly fast, unbelievably easy, and packed with layers of taste.

It’s bittersweet to share that this is my final recipe in what has been a fantastic partnership with Crisco. As a long-time enthusiast of their products, I’m truly sad to see this collaboration come to an end. Crisco has been a staple in my kitchen for as long as I can remember. Their shortening has been my secret ingredient for consistently perfect, chewy chocolate chip cookies since my childhood baking days. And when it comes to everyday cooking and baking, their reliable canola oil is my go-to choice. Just yesterday, I whipped up a double batch of my son’s favorite chocolate chip muffins, ensuring his freezer is well-stocked for those busy back-to-school mornings. Crisco oil provides a neutral base that lets the natural flavors of your ingredients shine, making it perfect for both savory dishes like these noodle bowls and sweet treats.

Looking back at our journey with Crisco, we’ve created some truly memorable recipes together. Our first venture, the ingenious Meatball Sub Egg Rolls, was a huge hit and remains a fantastic, fun addition to any Super Bowl party menu. Then, in December, we indulged in the pure decadence of Grasshopper Brownies – arguably my all-time favorite brownie recipe, crowned with a refreshing mint frosting and a rich chocolate ganache. Each recipe highlighted the quality and versatility of Crisco products, from baking to frying, consistently helping me create delicious meals and treats for my family.

Today, our focus shifts to a quick and utterly satisfying dinner. With the start of a new year, many of us are striving for healthier eating habits, and preparing meals at home is undoubtedly one of the best ways to achieve this. These Asian Noodle Bowls are not just fast; they’re also incredibly adaptable and made with wholesome ingredients you can trust. While I have a particular fondness for udon noodles and their wonderfully chewy texture, the beauty of this recipe lies in its flexibility. Feel free to use any pasta you have on hand – linguini, spaghetti, ramen, or even gluten-free options will work beautifully. Don’t be intimidated by the number of ingredients in the sauce; chances are, most of these Asian pantry staples are already in your kitchen. The preparation is straightforward: simply whisk the sauce ingredients together while your pork is cooking, and you’re well on your way to a gourmet meal that tastes like it took hours, not minutes.

Asian flavors are a constant favorite in our household, and these noodle bowls are a prime example of why. They strike a delightful balance, offering a hint of sweetness, a pleasant tanginess, and a customizable level of spice. Whether you prefer a gentle warmth or a fiery kick, adjusting the crushed red pepper allows you to tailor the heat perfectly to your palate. Beyond their incredible taste and ease of preparation, these bowls make for fantastic leftovers. They pack wonderfully for lunch the next day, and yes, I’m guilty of sneaking a cold forkful straight from the fridge in the middle of the night – no judgment here! The flavors actually deepen overnight, making them almost better the second day. To add more nutrition and texture, consider tossing in some vibrant vegetables like julienned carrots, thinly sliced bell peppers, crisp snap peas, or even some fresh spinach or bok choy in the last few minutes of cooking.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz pasta, (udon, linguini, spaghetti etc)
  • 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound pork tenderloin, cut into thin strips
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 Tablespoon honey
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 teaspoons fish sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper

Garnish

  • Chopped Peanuts
  • Sliced Green Onions

Instructions

  • Begin by cooking your chosen pasta according to the specific package directions until it reaches al dente. This typically takes about 8-10 minutes. Once cooked, drain the pasta thoroughly and set it aside.
  • In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the thinly sliced pork tenderloin strips and the finely chopped small onion to the hot pan. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 3-5 minutes, until the pork is nicely browned on all sides and the onions have softened and become translucent. Next, add the minced garlic and continue to cook for just 1 additional minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  • While the pork is cooking, prepare your flavorful sauce. In a medium bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients: soy sauce, water, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, honey, grated fresh ginger, fish sauce, minced garlic (from the sauce list), and crushed red pepper. Whisk vigorously until all ingredients are well combined and the honey is fully dissolved.
  • Once the pork is cooked and the sauce is ready, pour the entire sauce mixture over the pork and onions in the skillet. Stir everything together thoroughly, ensuring the pork is well coated. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to reduce and thicken slightly to a glossy consistency.
  • Add the cooked and drained noodles directly to the pan with the pork and sauce. Using tongs or two large spoons, toss the noodles vigorously to ensure every strand is generously coated with the delicious Asian sauce. Cook for another minute or two, just until the noodles are heated through.
  • Serve these delightful Asian Noodle Bowls immediately, garnished generously with crunchy chopped peanuts and fresh sliced green onions. For an extra pop of flavor and texture, consider adding a sprinkle of sesame seeds or fresh cilantro. Enjoy!
