The Figure Opposite

Husband’s Favorite Recipes: Celebrating Love Through Delicious Food & Our Blogging Journey

Today marks a special occasion where a wonderful group of bloggers has come together to express our heartfelt appreciation for the incredible people who stand by us every single day: our husbands. This fantastic initiative, beautifully organized by Amanda from I Am Baker, features a fun Q&A session that offers a glimpse into our partners’ perspectives on our blogging adventures. Beyond the insightful questions, I’m thrilled to share a carefully curated collection of my husband’s absolute favorite recipes. If you’re looking for tried-and-true, guy-approved meals and treats that are guaranteed to be a hit in your household, you’ve come to the right place. These dishes have consistently brought smiles to his face over the years, proving that the way to a man’s heart truly is through his stomach!

A Fun Q&A with My Supportive Husband

My husband is a man of few words, especially when put on the spot, but he’s always a good sport. Here’s what he had to say when I asked him a few questions about my blogging world:

What is your significant other’s favorite blog called? Uhhhhh……I have no idea. You like your own blog the best, right?

(My Reflection: His honesty is always refreshing! While he might not know the exact names of my favorite blogs, he certainly knows how much I pour into my own, and his assumption that I like mine best shows he sees my passion. It’s a sweet, if slightly clueless, endorsement!)

What is their favorite prop? Some board you always take a picture on.

(My Reflection: He’s probably referring to my trusty wooden photography background board! It’s true, it makes an appearance in countless photos. It’s amusing how these little details, which are so crucial to us bloggers, become inside jokes or observations for our partners.)

What is the weirdest thing you have seen your spouse do for a blog post? I don’t know. Maybe, stand on a chair during dinner to take a picture.

(My Reflection: Ah, the classic “stand on a chair for the perfect overhead shot” maneuver! This is a rite of passage for many food bloggers, and I’m sure I’m not the only one whose family has witnessed this. It’s a small price to pay for that ideal angle, even if it does involve some minor acrobatics during mealtime!)

If you could have your own blog what would you call it? Aaaahhhhh, I don’t know! Something about traveling.

(My Reflection: Travel is definitely one of his great passions! While he might be hesitant to come up with a name on the spot, I can already envision his blog filled with stunning landscape photography and adventurous itineraries. Perhaps I should encourage him to start one someday!)

What do you do for a living and what are your hobbies? Computer Engineer. Traveling, hiking, snowshoeing.

(My Reflection: This sums him up perfectly! He’s brilliant with technology, and equally at home exploring the great outdoors. These hobbies are a fantastic balance to his demanding career, and I love that we share a passion for travel, creating countless memories together.)

Who does the dishes? The dishwasher

(My Reflection: A practical answer from a practical man! While the dishwasher certainly does its fair share, I often find him pitching in with the hand-washing of pots and pans too. His help, whether automated or manual, is always appreciated after a busy cooking session!)

My husband may not have been overly enthusiastic about being interviewed for this post, but I am incredibly grateful for his willingness to participate and for simply being such a good sport. He consistently serves as my most willing taste tester, offering honest feedback, and never complains when new props or kitchen gadgets mysteriously appear in our home. His unwavering support for my blogging endeavors and for our family means the world to me. I truly couldn’t do what I do without him. Now, let’s move on to the delicious part: a roundup of some of his all-time favorite recipes that have graced our dinner table over the last few years.

My Husband’s Top Picks: Delicious & Guy-Approved Recipes

Asian Peanut Noodles

This dish became an instant favorite when I whipped it up for a quick lunch last summer. It’s incredibly flavorful, combining the rich, nutty taste of peanut sauce with tender noodles, and is versatile enough to enjoy on its own or with added protein. In fact, it’s so good that it’s already on our menu this week, and we plan to serve it with some delicious shrimp for a complete meal. It’s a testament to its deliciousness that it remains a regular request!

Avocado Bruschetta

We are absolutely huge fans of avocado in our household, and this Avocado Bruschetta was a game-changer for enjoying it in a fresh, vibrant, and incredibly easy way. It’s a perfect appetizer or light snack, blending creamy avocado with crisp bread and bright seasonings. My husband loves how refreshing and satisfying it is, making it a go-to choice when we crave something light yet incredibly flavorful.

Barbeque Pulled Pork Sandwiches

These Barbeque Pulled Pork Sandwiches have been a beloved staple in our family for many years, and for good reason! The magic happens in the crock pot, allowing the pork to slow cook to tender perfection, infusing it with smoky BBQ flavor. This makes it an ideal meal for busy days when you want a hearty, satisfying dinner without a lot of fuss. My husband especially loves the robust flavors and the ease of turning it into a delicious sandwich.

Party Mix

This classic Party Mix holds a special place in my husband’s heart as it’s a recipe he grew up with. It’s become a cherished tradition and an annual staple in our house, especially after Thanksgiving. The savory, crunchy, and addictive flavors make it impossible to resist, and it’s always the first snack to disappear at any gathering. It’s more than just a snack; it’s a taste of nostalgia and comfort for him.

Cream Puffs

I distinctly remember making these delightful Cream Puffs with my husband back in college. He’s not a big fan of chocolate, which makes these light, airy, and cream-filled pastries one of his absolute favorite desserts. The delicate choux pastry combined with the sweet, rich cream filling is a perfect treat, and they always bring back fond memories of our early days together. They’re a classic for a reason!

Crispy Herbed Shrimp with Chive Aioli

My husband has always been a huge seafood enthusiast, and I’m slowly, but surely, coming around to loving it myself. This Crispy Herbed Shrimp with Chive Aioli is one of those rare and wonderful dishes that we both wholeheartedly agree on. The shrimp are perfectly crispy and seasoned with fragrant herbs, complemented beautifully by the fresh, zesty chive aioli. It’s an elegant yet easy meal that’s perfect for a special dinner or a satisfying weeknight treat.

Chicken Enchilada Chili

Mexican food is a hands-down favorite in our house, and this Chicken Enchilada Chili has been a beloved staple for years. It combines all the comforting flavors of enchiladas in a hearty, easy-to-make chili format, perfect for a cozy night in. We enjoy it so much that it even made an appearance on our dinner table just this week! It’s consistently flavorful, filling, and always a hit, especially when topped with a dollop of sour cream and some fresh cilantro.

Butterscotch M&M Bars

My husband has a particular fondness for anything involving butterscotch, and blondies are consistently among his top dessert choices. These Butterscotch M&M Bars are simply divine, offering a chewy, buttery base loaded with sweet butterscotch chips and colorful M&Ms. They’re incredibly satisfying and easy to make, delivering that perfect blend of sweet and crunchy. I really need to make them for him again soon, as they always bring a huge smile to his face!

Baja Shrimp Tacos

This recipe for Baja Shrimp Tacos came to be after my husband tasted a similar dish at a restaurant and was instantly smitten. He specifically requested that I try to recreate it at home, and the results were phenomenal! He absolutely loved them, and for a long time, this was one of my most popular recipes on the blog, a fact he was incredibly proud of. The combination of crispy shrimp, fresh toppings, and zesty sauce makes these tacos an absolute flavor explosion.

Curried Potatoes with Chickpeas

Side dishes can often be a challenge in our home, as my family isn’t always enthusiastic about vegetables. However, these Curried Potatoes with Chickpeas are a definite exception and a resounding favorite! The tender, spiced potatoes, combined with the hearty chickpeas, create a wonderfully flavorful and satisfying side. What truly elevates this dish is the spicy yogurt sauce – it’s so incredibly good and adds a cooling yet zesty kick that makes everyone want more.

Open Face Chicken Sandwich w/ Artichoke Pesto

My husband is a big fan of artichokes, which sometimes makes me feel a little guilty since they aren’t my absolute favorite, and I don’t feature them enough in my cooking. But these Open Face Chicken Sandwiches with Artichoke Pesto are an exception that we both adore. They are so incredibly flavorful and satisfying; I honestly could eat them every week! The vibrant artichoke pesto paired with tender chicken on crusty bread makes for a truly gourmet sandwich experience.

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Seriously, who doesn’t love these iconic biscuits? My husband, being a true carb lover, considers Cheddar Bay Biscuits among his absolute favorites. They are incredibly flaky, rich with cheese, and infused with savory garlic and herbs, making them utterly irresistible. We often enjoy them as a side with dinner, and they rarely last long once they come out of the oven. They’re pure comfort in biscuit form!

Rosemary Focaccia

As I mentioned, bread is an absolute must-have in our household, and this Rosemary Focaccia is a particular favorite. Its soft, airy texture, fragrant rosemary, and savory olive oil notes make it an incredibly appealing side dish. My husband especially loves dipping it into good quality olive oil, which makes it an appetizer or accompaniment that he will always thoroughly enjoy. It’s simple, elegant, and utterly delicious.

Golden Rosemary Focaccia bread with fresh herbs.

Strawberry Shortcake

This classic Strawberry Shortcake is another recipe that holds a deep sense of nostalgia for my husband, as it’s one he grew up enjoying. Every summer since we’ve been married, making this dessert with fresh-picked strawberries has become a cherished tradition. The combination of fluffy shortcake, sweet ripe strawberries, and creamy whipped topping is simply irresistible and a true taste of summer. It’s a quintessential dessert that truly signals the season for him.

Cinnamon Rolls

My husband isn’t typically a big fan of sweet breakfasts; he would much prefer a savory omelet any day. However, these particular Cinnamon Rolls are an exception! What makes them even better is that they come together in less than 60 minutes, delivering warm, gooey, spiced perfection without a lengthy wait. He absolutely loves these quick and delicious rolls, making them a welcome sweet treat in our home on occasion.

Strawberry Crumb Bars

I knew my husband liked these Strawberry Crumb Bars the very first time I made them, but it wasn’t until he specifically requested them again this summer and then proceeded to eat quite a few that I truly realized just how much he actually adored them! These bars feature a sweet, jammy strawberry filling sandwiched between a buttery crumb crust and topping. They’re a wonderful way to enjoy fresh strawberries and make for a perfect dessert or snack.

Smokey Garlic Chicken Pasta

Pasta is a regular feature on our dinner table, and this Smokey Garlic Chicken Pasta stands out as exceptionally flavorful. It’s a hearty and comforting dish that’s packed with savory goodness, making it a reliable crowd-pleaser. Plus, it involves bacon, and honestly, what’s not to love about a dish that features crispy, smoky bacon? This pasta dish offers a satisfying depth of flavor that keeps us coming back for more.

A huge, heartfelt thank you to my amazing husband who continually spoils me with his love and unwavering support at every turn. He truly is the best partner a blogger (and wife!) could ask for!
