Warm Nutella Apple Quesadilla

Sweet Indulgence: The Ultimate Nutella Apple Quesadilla Recipe for Fall

As the crisp air of autumn sweeps in and leaves begin their vibrant transformation, there’s an undeniable magic in the air. Fall is not just a season; it’s an invitation to cozy up, enjoy nature’s beauty, and, perhaps most deliciously, celebrate the bountiful harvest of apples. This time of year brings an endless array of apple-centric culinary delights, and we’re thrilled to share a truly special one with you today. In honor of Cindy from Cindy’s Recipes and Writing hosting a fantastic #SundaySupper Autumn Apple Party, we’re presenting a recipe that perfectly encapsulates the sweet spirit of the season: the Nutella Apple Quesadilla.

While quesadillas are often associated with savory fillings like cheese, chicken, or vegetables, this recipe takes a delightful detour into the realm of sweet treats. We’re stepping outside the traditional savory quesadilla box to introduce a creation that is utterly indulgent and surprisingly simple. Our Nutella Apple Quesadilla combines warm, tender apple slices with the rich, creamy goodness of Nutella, all enveloped within a soft tortilla. This isn’t just a snack; it’s a dessert revolution, offering a harmonious blend of flavors and textures that will tantalize your taste buds and make it an instant fall favorite.

What truly elevates this sweet apple quesadilla is the irresistible cinnamon and sugar crust. Before hitting the pan, each tortilla is lightly coated in a fragrant mixture of cinnamon and sugar, creating a subtle crunch and a burst of aromatic spice that complements the sweet Nutella and tart apples perfectly. This extra touch transforms a simple quesadilla into an extraordinary treat. Imagine the soft chewiness of the tortilla giving way to molten hazelnut spread and juicy apple, all enhanced by a sweet, slightly crispy exterior. It’s a sensory experience that’s hard to beat and surprisingly easy to achieve.

This versatile Nutella Apple Quesadilla makes for an ideal after-school snack, a comforting dessert after dinner, or even a decadent breakfast to start your day on a sweet note. With fresh apples involved, it’s a treat you can feel good about indulging in, bringing a healthy fruit component to a sweet craving. The combination of warm, gooey Nutella and tender, slightly caramelized apples is simply divine. It’s a quick and easy recipe that promises maximum flavor with minimal effort, making it perfect for busy weekdays or a spontaneous weekend treat. The preparation is straightforward, and the cooking time is short, meaning you can satisfy those sweet cravings almost instantly.

The magic truly happens when Nutella and apples come together. The creamy, rich chocolate-hazelnut spread provides a luxurious and comforting counterpoint to the crisp, sweet-tart freshness of the apple. When heated, the Nutella becomes wonderfully melty, creating a delightful oozing effect that makes every bite an absolute pleasure. This recipe is also highly adaptable; feel free to experiment with different apple varieties. Granny Smith apples, for instance, will lend a tarter profile, balancing the sweetness of the Nutella, while Honeycrisp or Gala apples will offer extra sweetness and a satisfying crunch. You can also add a pinch of nutmeg or a dash of vanilla extract to the cinnamon-sugar mixture for an even more complex and autumnal flavor. For an extra special presentation, a dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of caramel sauce after cooking can take these quesadillas to the next level, making them perfect for guests or a special family dessert.

Prep: 5 mins | Cook: 5 mins | Total: 10 mins

Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 4 small tortillas
  • 4 Tablespoons Nutella
  • 1 apple, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat a non-stick pan to medium heat.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar; stir thoroughly until well mixed.
  3. Place two tortillas on a clean work surface. Spread 2 tablespoons of Nutella evenly over each tortilla, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Evenly arrange the thin slices of apple over the Nutella on each prepared tortilla. Top each with another tortilla to form two complete quesadillas.
  5. Spray one side of each quesadilla with nonstick cooking spray. Sprinkle generously with some of the cinnamon and sugar mixture, ensuring an even coating.
  6. Carefully place one quesadilla into the preheated skillet, cinnamon-sugar side down. Heat until the tortilla is golden brown and toasty (approximately 3 minutes). While the first side cooks, spray the face-up side with nonstick cooking spray, sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon and sugar mixture, then flip to cook the second side until golden and crispy.
  7. Once both sides are crisp and golden brown, and the Nutella is beautifully melted and warm, remove the quesadilla from the pan. Repeat with the second quesadilla.
  8. Allow the quesadillas to cool slightly for a few minutes before cutting them into quarters. Serve warm and savor every sweet bite!
