Ingredients

  • 3 ounces Irish whiskey such as Jameson
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 6 ounces ginger beer
  • garnishes such as lime slices and mint sprigs

Instructions

  • Fill a 16 ounce copper mug 2/3 of the way full of ice.
  • Pour the whiskey over the ice.
  • Add the lime juice.
  • Pour in the ginger beer and gently stir everything together.
  • Add garnishes of your choice, then serve immediately.

Notes

  1. Ginger beer is a sweet fizzy drink with a pronounced ginger flavor. You can buy it in small bottles in the mixers area near the alcohol. If you can't find it, you can use ginger ale although the flavor won't be quite the same.
  2. This recipe makes one drink. You can easily adjust the number of servings in the recipe card to fit your occasion and the ingredient amounts will automatically scale up.
  3. If you prefer to shake your mule, you can place the whiskey and lime juice in a cocktail shaker or sealed mason jar. Shake the ingredients together, then pour them over the ice and add the ginger beer.
